Editorial Review

Situated on Playa Diamante (Diamond Beach) The Grand Mayan Acapulco resort is easily accessible, just 5 minutes from the Airport and 20 minutes from Acapulco.  The resort is situated on over a half mile of beachfront, and is nestled in 200 acres of lush gardens, man made pools, and waterfalls.  For the tennis player, the hotel offers 12 tennis courts.  There's also a championship golf course nearby.  Grand Mayan Acapulco is mostly popular amongst those who are interested in an atmosphere suitable to families and couples with young children.

Most of the guests are impressed by the open air lobby of Grand Mayan Acapulco.  It is well maintained and contemporary in nature.  The resort makes an extensive use of ceramic in the common areas as well as in the hallways.  Although this helps the resort to maintain a clean environment it does cause a lot of noise in the hallways. The rooms are large, clean and spacious.  The resort has made use of contemporary Mexican décor to style the rooms, and they exude an understated elegance.  Besides AC and a ceiling fan, the other room amenities include color TV offering cable channels, iron, direct dial telephone etc.

If you are planning to walk across the Playa Diamante beach, then the sand in front of the resort is very fine and suitable for a stroll.  However, the beach water is brown, murky, and not too conducive for swimming.  Also, since the beach directly opens up to the Pacific Ocean, the waves can be very rough.  The Grand Mayan Acapulco also has a separate swimming pool for adults and children.  Many people prefer spending their time here.

If you love to spend your time in water, then you should visit Aqua Park, an on-site water park.  It has a special water slides section, which is a perfect spot for the kids.  You can also try out the lazy river experience, and the paddleboat pond as well as a train for small kids. The staff also organizes lake and canal navigation tours that actually involve manoeuvring with pedal boats and kayaks.

Tennis aficionado will have great fun while staying at Grand Mayan Acapulco as it has 12 tennis courts. And if you love playing golf, then you have to visit the 18-hole, par 71 golf course. At the Brio Health Spa & Fitness Center wherein you can get treatments, massages, facials and hydrating body treatments. Try out the natural body wrap consisting of citrus fruits, sea salts, chamomile and coconut gel.

The grounds of Grand Mayan Acapulco feature various tropical plantations and a large fishpond where you can find many birds and animals, including iguanas.

The rooms and suites of Grand Mayan Acapulco are classified into three categories. This includes Grand Master Rooms, Grand Suites and Grand Master Suites.  If you are traveling in a group of six, then you should preferably opt for a Grand Master Suite, as it provides a separate living and dining room and a terrace with private mini pool.  It also has a kitchenette, which is equipped with items like china, glassware and cutlery, fridge-bar, blender, coffee maker, microwave oven pots and pans, electric stove, toaster etc.  Grand suites provide amenities similar to Grand Master Suites, but are a little smaller.
