Located just 2 doors down from the Governor's mansion, the Avalon Baccara Cancun boutique hotel is part of the Avalon hotel chain. The designers tried to capture the feel of a colonial mansion with terracotta walls, Mexican tile, and stained glass. On the grounds you will find fountains, pools, and waterfalls, all set in a rich tropical setting.

The Avalon Baccara Cancun is perfect for anyone who yearns for intimacy and privacy. The resort, an erstwhile private residence, has 27 guestrooms and suites. So, if you are looking for an intimate place that is far from the hustle and bustle normally associated with resorts, then you can definitely consider Avalon Baccara Cancun.

The rooms have standard amenities such as AC, TV, telephone, CD player, complimentary toiletries etc. Cribs for infants are also provided, but you will have to place a request for this at the time of booking.  Some visitors seem to complain that the entire place, especially the furniture, seems to have an old look.  Its important to remember that the resort was once an old residential manor, and its management have decided to maintain the antique furniture, along with the classic look and feel.  If you have opted for suites, then you can look forward to a hand tiled Jacuzzi on the balconies.  You can also prepare your own meals, as there is a separate kitchen in each suite, which is fitted with all the required necessities.

If you are taking your family on vacation, then staying at Avalon Baccara Cancun won’t be a good idea. The resort does not provide facilities for childcare nor does it host any programs or games for young visitors.  But you can opt for the ‘Wild Things Kids Adventures’ that is offered by its sister concern, the Avalon Grand Cancun.

Some people may be put off by the fact that the resort does not have a fitness center or exercise equipment.  However, all this is available at the Avalon Grand Cancun nearby.  The resort does regularly organize various water sports.  In addition, you can take a dip in the swimming pool, which has a fountain.

Guests staying at Avalon Baccara Cancun have a choice of two restaurants located in the resort.  You can head for the Avanti restaurant, if you want to try some Mexican cuisine.  Most of the dishes served revolve around seafood.  Hence, if you are not fond of seafood, your choices are severely curtailed.  Alternatively, you can try out the Boulevard Bistro for sandwiches and pizzas.   Most guests say that the hamburgers and margaritas offered at the outdoor bars are great.

While choosing your rooms, you will have to finalize the number of people who are going to stay with you.  For instance, if you are planning to travel with your spouse or friend, you can either opt for a standard room or studio or a one-bedroom suite.  However, if your family consists of four members, you can try a two- bedroom suite that offers 2 private sleeping quarters.  The Honeymoon Suite has features like vaulted ceilings, handcrafted tile work and dim lighting conditions to create the perfect climes for a long lasting romance.  All the rooms in Avalon Baccara Cancun offer a lagoon or beach view.

What separates Avalon Baccara Cancun from its peers is the fact that the resort was an private mansion that was converted into a resort, so its Mexican owners ensured that this legacy remains.  Guests will notice the distinct Mexican stamp, which includes terracotta walls, blue-painted archways, handcrafted Mexican tile accents, stained-glass windows.  Another feature is that none of the twenty-seven rooms bear any resemblance to each other. Each room is unique and distinct in its own way.
