The Avalon Grand Cancun is part of the Avalon hotel group.  It is a small, intimate, hotel which has just 116 rooms.  Located in the heart of the hotel zone, the Grand faces both the ocean and the Nichpute lagoon.  The resort is centrally located and can be reached in 20 minutes if you are driving in from the Cancun International airport.  Downtown Cancun is also located close by.

Avalon Grand Cancun has 116 rooms. This means that the resort is not over-crowded and one can find lots of privacy.  Some of the rooms offer an ocean view.  But remember that when it comes to letting out the ocean view rooms, the hotel give preference to the it's time-share owners.  Some have complained that sometimes what is promised is not what is delivered.  or instance, you might have booked for an ocean view room, but may have to satisfy yourself with a room overlooking the main street.  So, confirm your reservations before you leave.  The resort does not have an elevator. So, if you are not comfortable with climbing stairs, then you should ask for rooms located on the first floor.

If you have chosen an all-inclusive plan, you can ask them to arrange transportation to the resort.  However, this is only extended to patrons who are reaching the resort from Cancun or Isla Mujeres.  If you want to take advantage of this make sure that you provide at least 72 hours notice to the hotel before your scheduled arrival.

All the suites and suits are resplendent with newly fitted Mexican furnishings.  Your suite will consist of flat screen TV sets, as well as a coffee maker, coffee pots, glasses etc.  You can also find a chest high refrigerator but unfortunately, it does not produce any ice.  However, you can use the fridge to chill your drinks or water.  Unlike its other counterparts, Avalon Grand Cancun suites do not feature mini bar neither is the fridge stocked with drinks.

If you are a fitness buff, you can do your daily regime in the fitness center, or try out the two pools. If your young ones are interested in swimming, then you can take them to the kiddie pool. In addition, your kids can have a good time at the Wild Things Kids’ Club.

During your stay at Avalon Grand Cancun, you can also indulge in non-motorized water sports.  The staff also organizes regular pool contests. And if this is not enough, then you can try out beach volleyball and bike tours.  Snorkeling also features in the activities list, but at an extra charge.  Yoga lovers can relax with the resorts Yoga classes.

If you want a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine, you can try out the menu on offer at Mi Casa es Su Casa.  Do try the hot chocolate Mexican style.  However, if your palate prefers international cuisine, you can have your meals at the Bellavista Restaurante.  You can also enjoy pool tables and darts at Kelly’s Irish Pub and Sports Bar.  However, more than the games, the pub is famous for its nachos and hamburgers.
