Dreams Cancun
Resort & Spa Review
|
Dreams Cancun is located on the tip of Punta Cancun, centrally located in the hotel zone. Its location allows it to be surrounded on three sides by the Caribbean. One look at the architecture and you will immediately realize that the resort’s structure is a marriage between ancient Mayan architecture and modern Mexican design sensibilities. You can reach the Cancun International Airport within a matter of twenty-five minutes. Considering that most visitors here want to enjoy their nightlife, Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa will prove to be a perfect location.
The entrance lobby of the Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa is rather simple in nature, however don’t let this fool you. Visitors claim that the rooms are luxurious and distinctly Mexican in taste. All rooms are fitted with standard amenities such as AC, coffee maker, satellite TV etc. All the suites have DVD players, and DVDs are available on rent. However, visitors complain that the library houses a limited number of titles, which quickly fly off the shelf. So, you can consider bringing in your own DVDs. The minibar is stocked every day with soft drinks, coronitas, soda and water. The resort also offers cribs and extra beds to guests who place an order. If you feel the urge to log onto the net, there is wi-fi internet access in the lobby. The resort does not provide internet access in individual suites.
Fitness freaks residing at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa can take advantage of the fitness center where you can try out the bicycles, stairmaster, treadmill, nautilus equipment, and free weights. In addition the resort also conducts regular aerobic as well as tennis classes. You can also enroll into dance classes.
If you prefer out door activities, then you can always try out beach volleyball, rifle shooting, or just lay by the pool. But most visitors state that the pool is small and it is very difficult to get a seat. If you have difficulty finding a seat near the pool, you can always head for the beach. The water is so clear you can actually see the fish. The beach on the north side is more crowded and there are various activities going on during any given time. However, if you are seeking tranquility, you should probably head for the beach on the south side. Nighttime sees movies being played on a large-screen near the lagoon.
Couples with young ones have the option of keeping their kids at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa’s ‘Explorer’s Club’. Kids will never get bored as they can participate in a range of activities including sandcastle competitions, arts & crafts, ocean trampoline and rock climbing. The resort also provides a pager to parents so that they are reachable in case of any eventuality.
If you want to try out authentic Mexican cuisine, you can always visit Paloma Bonita. On the other hand, Japanese cuisine lovers can choose Himitsu and try the sushi and the wings that are on offer. Oceana is the place to head if you want seafood. Most visitors insist on trying out the grouper and salmon. You can also try out the Chicken Mignon that is on offer at the SeaSide Grill. The resort also has many bars that offer alcohol and other kinds of drinks. Ask for the Coco Loco and Flaming Coffee during your stay.
There are 379 rooms on offer at Dreams Cancun Resort and Spa, with all suites have an ocean view. The rooms are categorized in to Club Tower Room and Pyramid Room. Go for the rooms offered in club tower if you are looking for an added privacy as each room has a private lounge area. Additionally, each floor has only one suite and five regular rooms. You can go in for the Club Jacuzzi Jr. Suite if you want to enjoy a private Jacuzzi. But if you are on a honeymoon, you may want to try the Honeymoon Suite that has features like direct access to the garden and a bar-dinette.
The ‘Delphinus Dreams Cancun’ dolphinarium (dolphin aquarium) is the best feature of the resort. Here you can get a chance to swim with the dolphins and see them in action. The resort has also arranged for a lecture series that provide additional information about dolphins. Most visitors term the experience as ‘unforgettable’.
