The Excellence at Playa Mujeres is an idyllic, adults-only resort resting on a 20-mile peninsula on the white sand shoreline of Cancun.  The resort sits on the coast of the sparkling Caribbean and boasts of an in-land marina and a stunning Greg Normal golf course.  It has just reopened after a major facelift in January, 2008 and is just beginning to pull in the crowds. .

There are some 470 odd guestrooms in The Excellence, each with private Jacuzzi, extra wide sofa, wide open terrace or balcony, full marble bathroom, 42” flat-screen TV, DVD, radio/alarm clock with ipod connectivity and wireless Internet service.  Suites on the ground floor enjoy direct access to the pool.  If you want to holiday in style, choose the two-storey rooftop terrace suite.  A word of warning: select your rooms carefully.  Suites with pools that are not on the top floors get less sun; also, other people can see into these pools.

The Excellence has a remarkable all inclusive experience with 8 a la carte dining options, 2 a la carte lunch options, unlimited and premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a well-stocked in-room mini-bar, non-motorized water sports, tennis clinics, spa and a library. They have a well-equipped gym.

The food options at the Excellence offers Mexican to Mediterranean, Italian, Asian and French, and the variety is simply outstanding.  The Asian Restaurant is really spicy and the Flavour Market is a real gem for those who like to try stuff they’ve never heard of.  The Grill is a no go for vegetarians because they serve only non-vegetarian food here and they don’t make any exceptions.  Other than that and the Lobster House, vegetarian food is served everywhere else.  If you’re a coffee fan, try the espresso at the Café Kafe or the Martini Bar.  he service is excellent and the staff work really hard to keep their guests happy.  The bars are likewise fantastic with an excellent range of wines and martinis.  A smattering of Spanish and some healthy tipping will ensure that you get your drink exactly the way you want it.

For internet access, the Excellence Club has 3 computers and the business center above the lobby has 4 computers, all with free service.  You also receive wireless internet access from your room.

The beach at The Excellence may not be the best beach in Cancun, but it is wide, sandy and with sparkling blue water.  No fear of rubbing shoulders with strangers, because the huge beach allows you enough privacy to forget that you’re sharing it with anyone else.  Some people may grumble about the odd tuft of seaweed sticking out at the fringes, but this is not a big problem as the hotel cleans this every morning.  If you’re there on the honeymoon package, don’t forget to try the romantic dinner on the beach.  The pools and the pool areas are beautiful.  There are quite a number of pool beds and you can take as many towels as you want.  However, even though they say on their website that 4 pools are heated, most of the time it is only one or two that are.

The entertainment package is quite busy with ocean sports like windsurfing, kayaking and snorkeling that is offered in the all inclusive.  If you’re a land lubber, join the others for a game of beach volleyball, sweat it out on the tennis courts or just take a pleasant bike ride along the beach.  The Excellence has an excellent entertainment team and they will have you take a go at rifle shooting, water aerobics and lots more.  The evening entertainment is festive with live music and dancing, and you can decide whether to join in or just sit back and enjoy the festivities.  In short, there really is no need to leave the resort for night time entertainment.

The Excellence at Playa Mujeres is an exotic resort on a secluded peninsula in Cancun.  The stunning tropical backdrop and the luxurious room along with their golf course make for a wonderful stay.  One of the best things at this resort is the importance they give to details.  From the time you enter the resort, you are transported to a beautiful world where they spoil you silly by granting your every wish – and with a smile!  The grounds are immaculate and the view is picture card perfect with lazy rivers and gurgling streams winding around palm trees and grass mounds.  The all-new gym has some of the best equipment, and the Spa looks like something out of the movies.  So, if you are thinking of going to Cancun for a honeymoon, to renew your vows or simply for a romantic getaway, you simply must check out The Excellence at Playa Mujeres.  It has the potential to be one of Cancun’s best.
