Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach first opened in 2004, and is located in the center of Cancun's hotel zone.  It is a hotel with refined architecture, whose suites offer great views of the ocean.  Because it is located in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone, the resort offers easy access to the various shopping and entertainment facilities located in Cancun.  Tourist attractions like Isla Mujeres sit in close proximity to the resort.  Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is a huge resort and bears a distinct European feel. Though the resort lies in close proximity to popular nightclubs and pubs, do not discount Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach as a spring-break kind of resort.  It offers a perfect family atmosphere and one can notice a lot of young couples as well as families with small kids.  Since the resort was constructed in 1991, the outer façade does appear to be a bit dated, although visitors will also enjoy the tropical landscaped gardens.

The rooms of the resort are quite spacious.  All rooms have a balcony and a separate living area; plus they offer a view of the ocean.  You can locate standard amenities such as coffee maker, cordless phone, 27-inch TV, CD player, voicemail facilities etc.  However, most visitors complain about the lack of a fridge or a minibar in the rooms.  Similarly, the resort may charge extra for delivering the morning coffee or tea to your room.  The resort does offer in-room internet connections allowing you to log on from the comfort of your room.

Since, the resort was recently renovated, they have spruced up the in-room furnishings.  However, you may find that the beds are hard.  Visitors also state that the rooms, especially those close to the lobby, tend to be noisy.  Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach makes extensive use of marble in its lobby, the main living rooms and the bathrooms and in the process makes it easier for the sound to travel.  Hence, many guests recommend the use of earplugs while sleeping.

If you are interested in working out, then you can use the gym at the resort.  However the gym does not have much in terms of equipment.  There are only 4 or 5 treadmills, and a few elliptical and resistance equipment.  However, it does offer a good view of the ocean and the gym staff treats all the visitors with a complimentary fruit juice, tea and coffee.  If you want to relax your mind and body, then you can try out the yoga classes offered at the resort.  If you are a tennis fan, then you can show you can try one of the three in-door tennis courts.

The resort conducts water sports such as snorkeling and also provides jet skis for rent.  However, most visitors recommend against trying out snorkeling as the area was badly damaged by the recent hurricanes.  You can also spend your time in the multi-leveled lagoon styled pool.  The pool is large and does not tend to get crowded.  Most visitors claim that unlike the beaches of other resorts, the beach of Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach is not at all rocky.  And since the beach is on the north side, the water is calm, and the presence of gentle waves makes it perfect for swimming.   If you are traveling with young kids, you csn take advantage of the complimentary Fiesta Kids Club that organizes activities such as musical chairs and water sports competition in the special kiddie pool.

Local Mexican delicacies are served at La Joya.  The restaurant offers delicious homemade tacos, which should not be missed.  Isla Contoy specializes in seafood.  Sea bass, rack of lamb, grilled chicken, shrimp ceviche are some of the highly recommended dishes.  You can also try out the Viña del Mar that offers Japanese, American, and Mexican breakfast.

The resort houses 602 rooms and suites that are classified into categories such as Presidential Suite, Governor Suite, Grand club, Jr. Suite ocean room etc.  Each room has its own special features.  For instance, if you opt for Master Suite Ocean View, you are provided with amenities such as bathrooms with Jacuzzis, stall showers etc.  On the other hand, Presidential suite offers you a kitchen, steam baths, large whirlpool tubs, private terrace with swimming pool, two bedrooms etc.

The spa is definitely the best feature of Fiesta Americana Grand Coral.  It offers aromatherapy, massage, reflexology, hot stone massages, shiatsu and thalassoterapy.  You can also order an in-suite massage or couple’s massage.
