Hyatt Regency
Cancun
Review
|
Hyatt Regency Cancun is one of the ‘big small’ resorts operating in Cancun. It is big because it is operated by the renowned Hyatt Regency Cancun group and small because it is just 14-storeys high and offers only 300 rooms.
It takes only 25 minutes to reach the Cancun International Airport from the resort, and is walking distance from the nightclubs and pubs.
Guests at Hyatt Regency Cancun are welcomed with cool, orange scented towels. However, most visitors are disappointed to by a lack of AC in the common area such as the lobby and elevator. However, your disappointment is bound to disappear once you set your foot inside your rooms. The entire resort was recently refurbished and the suites now bear a contemporary European touch. You will also spot standard amenities such as LCD TVs, satellite channels, minibar, coffee maker, alarm clock that supports iPods and other MP3 players. The rooms and bathrooms consist of stone flooring. However, the lack of carpets makes it easier for sound to travel and hence at times guest tend to complain about the rooms being noisy. A wireless internet connection is provided in all the rooms, however you will have to pay extra for this.
The main pool is the largest of the three pools that dot the Hyatt Regency. It is a bi-level pool that is separated by a waterfall. The water in the lower level of the pool is warm as it is exposed to sun. You can also locate lounge chairs at the pool as well as a swim up bar. This pool attracts the maximum crowd as the staff regularly organizes various contests such as volleyball etc. You will also be able to soak up the live music played at the pool. If you yearn for some quietness, then staying on the upper deck pool might be a good idea. If you are traveling with small kids, you can take them to the kiddies’ pool.
If you love walking down the beach, be aware that the resort does not have a beach directly on the property. However, you do have the option of using the beach of their sister resort by using the regular shuttle bus service. The resort also organizes non-motorized sport activities like snorkeling. You can also try out the spa services offered at Hyatt Regency Cancun.
Whether you are interested in authentic Mexican dishes or some Caribbean sea food delicacies, you can always choose the ‘O’ restaurant. ‘The Grill’ is another restaurant frequented by visitors. Try the Tuna salad in a pita. On the other hand, you can also go to the ‘Regency Club’ that offers access to the Regency Club Lounge and a chance to savor continental breakfasts, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
The resort has a cylindrical structure and therefore almost all the rooms provide a view of the ocean. There are 300 rooms that are cataloged under 11 separate categories. If you are a large family, then go in for the Infinity Suite that offers a kitchenette, dining space for 10 people and a separate work area. However, a family of three can opt for the King Room that offers a lagoon view as well as Chaise Lounge and rollaway.
