Editorial Review

Small, Charming and Elegant.  These three words perhaps summarize Le Meridien Cancun.  Located in the Cancun Hotel Zone, the resort is a 15-minute drive from the Cancun International Airport and sits in close proximity to downtown Cancun.

Le Meridien Cancun is different from its peers.  The resort exudes a strong European flavor, and there are only 213 rooms. Thus, it offers privacy and a warm atmosphere.  It is more of a family resort and hence, those interested in ‘spring break’ kind of activities will not find the Le Meridien Cancun to their liking.  Room options include the Deluxe rooms that offer a balcony as well as a view of the ocean, or you try the presidential suites that offer more superior options.  Most of the rooms offer a view of the lagoon or the ocean, although you must remember the resort stands almost perpendicular to the water.  Hence, most rooms offer only a partial view of the ocean.  Try selecting the rooms facing the poolside as they have the best view of the sea.

Le Meridien Cancun welcomes every visitor with a cold towel and a tropical fruit drink.  Once, you are done with the formalities, do not forget to collect Concierge Map from the concierge desk.  It has a detailed map of the resort, and lists all the important points of interest.  Once, inside the room, you will be able to locate standard amenities such as tea and coffee maker, AC, mini bar, microwave oven, flat TVs that offer cable channels, mini bar stocked with beer and soft drinks, telephones that allow international direct dialing, and newspapers.  Many guests have complained about the bed being a bit hard (very typical of Mexican resorts), though agreeable.  The resort also offers internet connection in individual rooms, however, you will have to pay extra for the service.  Most people access the internet from the lounge as it is offered free of cost.

Most guests tend to enjoy the three infinity cascading pools.  While the topmost level consists of cold water, the water present in the lowest level is very warm.  You can also take advantage of the gym at the resort, and if you are interested in relaxing your body you can try out Spa Del Mar.  The spa offers free Jacuzzi, steam room, cold plunge and sauna.  Many people also enjoy sipping the drinks offered at the spa such as chlorophyll water, hibiscus water, and iced tea.

If you are more interested in more active sports, then you can make use of the two artificial grass tennis courts.  The resort also organizes regular non-motor water sports activities such as deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, and scuba diving.  It also organizes horse-riding trips and one can always take advantage of the special walking area present in the resort.

Couples have the option of keeping their young kids at the ‘Penguin Kids Club’.  Apart from caring for the child, the staff also organizes shows like costumed cartoon characters, piñatas and music shows.

You can consider having your lunch at St. Tropez, which has many dishes to offer including Mexican specialties, salads, pizza, burgers etc.  And do not miss out on the Chicken Nachos offered.  Visitors have also had a good experience at the Aioli restaurant.  Also do try out the grouper sandwiches offered by the poolside bar.

The spa, Spa del Mar, is definitely the best feature of Le Meridien Cancun. It is spread on an area of 15,000 sq. feet and offers treatments such as Gallien jet shower, Swiss showers, cascading waterfall whirlpool, shiatsu, aromatherapy salt glows and seaweed body masks etc.  And during your stay at Le Meridien Cancun, do not forget to try a hot stone massage as most visitors have described it as a ‘pleasure filled experience’.
