Omni Cancun
Hotel & Villas Review
|
The Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas is managed Omni Hotels, one of the fast rising names in the hospitality industry. Located in the hotel zone, the resort has a favorable location that offers easy access to both Cancun International Airport and downtown Cancun.
The entire structure of the resort derives its inspiration from contemporary Mexican architectural sensibilities. Most of the rooms are designed to provide a view of the Mexican Caribbean Ocean or the Nichupte Lagoon. Many visitors claim that the resort is more suitable for a family rather than for couples or singles. So, if you are family person who is planning to bring his/her children, Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas might prove to a perfect option.
Upon entering Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas, you can catch a view of the chic lobby and the tropical bamboo waterfall garden. The resort carried out an extensive renovation and restoration work to undo the damage caused by the hurricanes that had lashed the region in 2005. All the guest rooms have been fitted with marble floors which lends a stylish feel to the entire place. However, visitors complain that the rooms are noisy and you are able to hear even the opening of doors in adjacent rooms. The presence of marble making it easier for the sound waves to travel.
Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas offers 351 rooms and suites that are categorized in four different varieties. The Deluxe rooms offer balcony and built-in lounge benches. But if you want to get a view of the ocean, then you should opt for the Junior suites, that offers facilities like sofa in the living room and a wet bar. If you are traveling with a large family, it is ideal to go in for the Presidential Suite. It has a living and a dining room and also a kitchen area. You also have the option of selecting an additional bedroom as a connector. The same can be used as your kid’s room. The villas are suitable for people traveling in a large group and who would like to have private rooms. The villas have three bedrooms, private bathroom on the second and the third floor as well as a kitchen area.
The furnishings in the room are comfortable and elegant. Surprisingly, even the beds and pillows are comfortable. In fact, the resort supplies a ‘pillow menu’ to guests. T hus, you can order a pillow as per your needs and preferences. The rooms are fitted with standard amenities such as worktable, coffeemaker, AM/FM clock radio, AC, telephone etc. On the entertainment front, Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas provides you with flat screen TV, cable connection, and a CD/DVD player. The resort does not provide with internet connection points in individual suites. So, if you need to check your email or business correspondence, you will have to bring your laptop in to the lobby or near the pool. You can take advantage of the free Wi-Fi Internet access available in the same.
The resort is definitely ‘handicap friendly’. It provides special wheelchair access, ramps, and elevator. Handicapped guests are also provided with special bathroom arrangements that has a shower and tub, which is equipped with a railing and a seat.
If you are a fitness freak, you can take advantage of the fitness center, and even the services of a personal trainer. If you love spending your time in the water, then you can visit any of the three cascading swimming pools. One of the pools has a swim up bar and you can participate in the contests and games that are conducted at regular interval, including beach and pool volleyball, aqua aerobics and water polo. The pool even has built-in sunken chaise lounge chairs. Omni Cancun Hotel and Villas also organizes daily snorkeling and scuba driving trips, and even offers scuba lessons for novices. The resort also has tennis and basketball courts. Similarly, it also arranges for a spa that provides relaxing massage and other natural treatments. The resort also provides baby-sitting facilities on request.
Most guests recommend having the dinners at ‘Da Vinci’, which serves Italian fare. Try out the chocolate piano dessert and the Artiste’s palette. You can have your dinner and breakfast at La Paloma. Be sure to try out the steak. The Pina Colada is a beachfront eatery that serves seafood and grilled dishes. And you should definitely pay a visit to the ‘Kukus Jacuzzi Beach Bar’, which is the only one of its kind in the Cancun region. A side note: You may be asked to sign slips or receipts after placing an order which some may find annoying.
