Editorial Review

Ritz Carlton Cancun symbolizes the grandeur of the Ritz Carlton group, a name renowned for its luxurious resorts and hotels.  Established in 1993, the resort is conveniently nestled between downtown Cancun and the Cancun International Airport.  It takes less than twenty-five minutes to reach Cancun and the airport is just a 15- minutes ride.

The relaxed and laidback attitude of the resort is more suitable to families and couples who wish to have a tranquil vacation.  Ritz Carlton Cancun will not appeal to people who are looking for a ‘spring break’.

Visitors will be impressed by the entrance lobby that is simple, yet elegant.  The large variety of blooming  flowers lend a pleasant smell to the entire area.  The resort offers balconies in each room and suite, and is designed to provide an ocean view to all the guests, regardless of the room chosen.  Rooms have air-conditioning, a gourmet coffee maker, radio and CD player.  The flat screen TVs allow you to catch international TV channels.  Also most rooms feature a TV in the living room as well as the bedroom.  The mini bar is regularly stocked with wines, sodas and other drinks.  The resort also offers a complimentary newspaper in each room.  WI-Fi Internet service offered in individual rooms, which is available upon the payment of an additional charge.

Though, the resort is mainly meant for families, don't be under the impression that you will not have a fun time.  There are many activities that are bound to spice up your vacation.  Take for instance the fitness center.  It holds fitness classes on regular basis and is equipped with all the necessary equipment.  The gym windows open up to the ocean and the pool.  Hence, many visitors term exercising at Ritz Carlton Cancun’s gym as a different experience.  And when you visit the gym, don't forget to check out the steam and sauna facility offered in the gym locker rooms.

You can also participate in the Yoga sessions that visitors often attend to detoxify the mind and the body.  Instructed by a professional, the sessions are conducted on the beach.  Also. what about trying some cooking classes to sharpen your culinary skills.  Lessons include seafood preparation and tasty ways to prepare margaritas, ceviche, Mexican cuisine, Italian cuisine Thai cuisine, Mexican style grilling and Rendez-Vous Provence Style.

The resort also conducts wine tasting sessions.  Visitors attending are offered Argentinean and Chilean wines and are also made aware behind the history of each wine.  However, if you are more interested in knowing about the origins of Tequila, you can always participate in the ‘tequila tastings’ where you will also gain knowledge about the historical development and the latest innovations and experimentation carried out with the drink.

If you are bittten by the tennis bug and want to get your skills honed, visit The Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center.  You can either participate in the group sessions or go in for individual classes.

As far as kids are concerned, baby-sitting services are offered at the resort. You also have the option of enrolling them in the Kids Camp program, where your little one can enjoy and participate in activities ranging from musical chairs, arts & crafts cookie baking, piñata making, treasure hunt to ceramic painting and cave paintings.

Most visitors recommending trying out the Club Grill and the Fantino that offers international and Caribbean cuisine respectively.  Similarly, the Sushi and Seafood bar is famous for its kumonto and sushi.  Mexican and international cuisines are offered at El Café Mexicano.  Most guests also recommend dining at Casitas.

Couples without kids can select the Ocean View and the Ocean Front Suites.  However, if you have young children it is better to opt for two adjoining rooms.  The suites do not have sleeper sofa and that can create a problem while preparing a bed for your kids.  Couples with babies should choose the ‘Itzy, Bitzy, Ritz Kids Rooms’ that come equipped with features like telephone that instead of ringing, lights up; miniature hangers; crib for the baby and a “shh, baby sleeping" signHowever, if you are looking for a private terrace and a terrace based Jacuzzi, you can always check out the Presidential Suites.

If you happen to stay between June and September, you can participate in the ‘Turtle camp program’ that allows you to catch a glimpse of the nesting turtles and also a chance to release the baby turtles in the ocean.  The resort also conducts the Aztec Ceremony every Saturday to worship the Fire God for a good fortune.  This ceremony allows visitors to get a glimpse of ancient Mexican beliefs and traditions.
