Westin Resort and Spa is one of the many great hotels by Westin Hotels & Resorts, a leading name in the hospitality industry. The resort is located only 10 minutes from Cancun International Airport, but is located at the far end of the Cancun hotel zone.  Hence, it takes anywhere between an extra 30- 60 minutes to access popular tourist destinations like downtown Cancun, Chichen Itza, Tulum Ruins, Xcaret Eco etc.  Guests residing at the resort can get a close view of the Caribbean Sea and Nichupte Lagoon.  In fact, Westin Resort and Spa’s unique location gives most of the visitors a chance to enjoy a secluded spot that is away from the hullabaloo.

The resort has two entrance lobbies- the main lobby and the Royal Beach Club lobby.  Visitors opt for an upgrade are shifted to the Royal Beach Club.  As with other Westin properties, Westin Resort and Spa too offers amenities associated with a four-star hotel.  Hence, you can locate coffee maker, refrigerator, radio, LCD/plasma TV sets, satellite connection etc.  For an extra charge, all the rooms provide you with wireless internet connection.  Though, the rooms are fitted with modern amenities, visitors may find that the décor is outdated as far as style is concerned.  However, Westin Resort and Spa has now fitted all the rooms with ‘The Heavenly Bed’ but visitors may be disappointed with the fact that not all the rooms are not fitted with dressers.  Allhough closets have been provided in each room, visitors may find that they are small in size.

If you want to have a workout you can go to the Westin Workout.  Since Reebok runs the gym, you can be assured of quality equipment.  The resort also conducts tennis classes on a regular basis, or you can try out parasailing, and water skiing.  If you are planning to discover the area by jogging or walking, do not forget to fetch a copy of the ‘runner’s world maps’.  The maps feature the route you should follow if you are planning a three or a 5-mile jaunt.  It also lists all the important tourist points as well as tips on running.

The main building pool is a large square shape and features a swim-up bar.  The other three pools are shallow and hence are ideal for small kids.  If you are comfortable with deep pools, you can always opt for the pools by the lagoon side.  The hotel’s unique location allows visitors to take advantage of the wide, large strip of beach.  However, the ocean can at times get rough, thus, making it unsuitable for young kids.  Since Westin Resort and Spa sits across Cancun Club Med, the option of going in for snorkelling or other water-based sports is always available to you.  The resort also offers babysitting services and has a special Westin Kids Club for kids aged under thirteen.

The chefs at Arrecifes restuarant offer gourmet cuisine.  You also get a chance to select international as well as local wines. However, if you want to try authentic Mexican cuisine, you can visit El Palmar, which also serves international cuisine.

The ‘Heavenly Spa by Westin’ is definitely the best feature of the resort.  You can either opt for the Temazcal bath or the sauna, spa facials, Vichy shower, sauna or the Jacuzzi.  In addition, you have the option of receiving the treatment indoors, or in outdoor massage cabanas or on terraces that overlook the ocean.
