Editorial Review

Completed in 2001, the Ceiba del Mar is the vision of architect Luis Segur.  Spread over a six-acre property, the thatched roof buildings of the complex bear a distinct Mayan and Mexican architectural stamp.  The resort is a twenty-minute drive from the Cancun International Airport but can also be approached from north of Playa del Carmen.  A distinguishing feature of Ceiba del Mar is that it offers exclusivity.  It features only 45 junior suites, 36 master suites and 7 penthouses.  Thus, the resort offers unparalleled privacy and is a perfect place for those who are not interested into bumping into endless number of strangers. 

The resort has Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites, Master Suites and Penthouse.  Each type of room comes fitted with unique points.  For instance, deluxe rooms offer ocean views and access to a private 753 ft2 / 70 m2 whirlpool terrace.  On the other hand, master suites offer a mini bar and a separate bath that offers a view of the room through shuttered doors. 

Ceiba del Mar offers basic facilities like currency exchange, beauty salon, boutique, complimentary daily newspaper etc.  But most visitors love the way they greet their new guests on arrival.  After setting your foot inside Ceiba del Mar, you can look forward to sipping a Ceiba cocktail.  You will also be provided with fresh scented towels, guaranteed to drive away any fatigue you might be experiencing.  Many visitors also love to snack onto the sweet rolls that are offered every morning complimentary with tea, coffee or juice.

Fitness freaks can also look forward to the Yoga, pilates and aquafit programs that are offered at the resort.  Most tourists label the seaside yoga sessions as enriching.  You can also look forward to using tennis courts, bicycling, snorkelling, and scuba diving. 

Ceiba del Mar has two restaurants that are geared to serve a blend of traditional and creative Mexican cuisine that are generously laced with Mediterranean flare.  The Xtabay Restaurant for instance is a haven for those who relish a big breakfast and are always game for new recipes that are prepared by the chefs.  Arrecife Grill & Lounge can be visited for having breakfast, lunch and dinner.  You can look forward to tasting scrumptious seafood, and myriad salads, meats and pastas that are on offer.  If your taste buds demand Asian cuisine, then you can head for the Terrace Lounge.  Once, there do not forget to taste the sushi, carpaccios and tartars.  You can also try out Bar de Tequila and Pool Bar if you want to sip in the native Mexican cocktails or just want to down a peg or two of beer or tequilas. 

The Spa can be termed the best feature of Ceiba del Mar.  It boasts of 50 essential English oils that are mixed in base consisting of sweet almonds.  A lot of visitors give a thumbs up to the TOP'NIKTE massage, where you receive 50 minutes of massage and then have your body wrapped up in cotton that has been soaked in aromatic herbal concoction.  Besides being relaxing it eliminates the toxin in your system.  You can also look forward to spending some time in the Temazcal.  It is based on the local Mexican ritual where one is required to sit in pitch-black terra cotta sweat room, using volcanic stones and aromatic herbs for the steam.
