Editorial Review
Sandos Caracol Beach Resort & Spa is part of the Sandos Hotels and Resorts chain. The hotel was built in 1998, with a renovation in 2005, and has 996 guest rooms in 78, 3-storey, buildings. The traditional Mexican styled resort is an extensive complex situated beachfront, but on the edge of a "jungle" surrounded by mangroves and lagoons. The eco parks of Xcaret and Xel-Ha are close by. The resort is situated only 45 minutes from the Cancun International Airport and 10 minutes from Playa del Carmen.
All the rooms have been provided with standard amenities like satellite color TV, air conditioning etc. However, if you are looking to send emails or just chat online with your friends, then you will have to use the ‘Internet Room’. None of the suites in Sandos Caracol resort have an in-room internet connection. Visitors can also find a various types of liquor, mineral water, soft drinks and beers in the minibar.
Sandos Caracol resort can prove to be a good choice for couples with young children. The resort has a special kids club that not only takes care of your young ones, but also makes sure that they are having a meaningful and enjoyable holiday. For instance, if your kids are aged between 4-7 years old, they can participate in activities such as dancing, sandcastle building, face painting, etc. Similarly, Kid’s club that is meant for children aged between 8-12 years old allows your kids to enjoy activities such as pool games, football, a piñata party game etc. Feel like letting your hair down? Then during your stay at Sandos Caracol resort, you can look forward for daily evening shows as well as live music, which is held once every week. The resort also features a disco. If you enjoy swimming, then you can spend your time in any one of the three pools.
If you like water sports, then you can try out the snorkeling, windsurfing, canoeing, sailing etc. In addition, you can also attend the lessons on scuba diving, which are conducted in a pool. The resort also conducts pool games on a regular basis, so you can enjoy water aerobics, water polo, beach volleyball and water volleyball
If walking down the beach is part of your idea for a perfect vacation, then Sandos Caracol resort does feature a beach, but it can be rocky. But whatever you do or wherever you go, do not forget to apply a thick covering of mosquito repellent. Remember the resort is surrounded by water and dense trees, thus, providing a perfect breeding ground for mosquitos.
If you want Mexican cuisine then you should try out Las M´scaras. Italian food lovers can head to La Toscana. And Oriental and international cuisine is available at El Templo and La Laguna respectively. Most people seem to prefer dining in La Riviera, which serves Mediterranean specialties.
