Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Review
|
The Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach is part of the Pueblo Bonito hotel chain. The hotel features 327 suites in 28 hillside buildings on 50 acres of beachfront property overlooking the pacific ocean. and is designed in a classic Mexican hacienda style. The property is 40 minutes from the airport, and only 15 minutes to downtown. If one has to sum up Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, then, it can be done in one sentence, “a large resort that sits on a large piece of land and offers large rooms to its guests.”
The resort is situated in a rather secluded spot. Being situated on the western side of the tip of Baja, it is cut off from the main hotel zone that stretches along the Sea of Cortes. It is a family friendly resort but is equally suitable for young couples and singles. However, if you are traveling with seniors, you should re-consider your decision of staying at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach because you might encounter small but steep hills while moving around the resort and this might prove to be a problem to those who have difficulties in walking. Although the resort does makes use of golf carts while transporting its guests, the natural layout of the resort might not be suitable for all people.
Guests who stay at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach will notice the distinct tone of classic Mexican hacienda architecture. Even the entrance lobby is beautifully done with high ceilings and beams that are painted in rich colors. You will also notice a kind of fragrance lingering in all the common areas. The resort implements a Lavender-Vanilla aromatherapy program in its common areas. The resort also allows you to purchase scents for your personal use.
All the suites in Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach have standard amenities such as TV that offers satellite channels, ACs, telephone that provide direct dialing, coffee maker, mini-bar, etc.
Guests say that the rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms are big and feature a walk-in shower. However, the walls are thin and at times, you can hear people talking in the next room or may be someone flushing the toilet. But guests say that most of the time the sound or rather the noise is negligible.
If you happen to be an avid web surfer then you can do this from your own suites. Some of the suites in the resort offer free Internet connectivity and the management is in the process of extending this facility to the remaining suites. You can also take your laptop to the Chapel Plaza and in the Manila Bar area near the main pool where wireless connectivity is available. f your laptop is not vacationing with you in Los Cabos, you can access the internet by using the computers in the Internet-Drugstore shop, however, the resort levies extra charges this.
Pueblo Bonito Sunset is a large resort and sits on 50 acres of land. Since the topography consists of steep hills, the resort provides golf carts that are used for transporting guests to and from the main entrance. There are plenty of golf carts and you do not have to wait for more than 5 minutes before you are able to get one for yourself. However, it is better if you place a request for the cart at least 5 minutes prior to your departure.
The resort has three free form pools. The pool near the beach is the busiest pool and it sees the maximum number of visitors as well as a large number of pool activities being conducted. The water in this particular pool is also the warmest. The main pool also has a special area for kids wherein you can find slides etc. The other pools are much quieter and also less crowded than the main pool. There are plenty of lounge chairs for everyone and you usually do not need not get up early to reserve a one for yourself. The pool that seems to attract most people happens to be the ‘Sky Pool’. This particular pool is located on the top of the property and allows you to have an unobstructed view of the entire resort area as well as everything that falls in its periphery.
If you prefer swimming in the sea to pool water the Pueblo Bonito Sunset might disappoint you. This is because the water is very rough and has strong currents and hence is not suitable for swimming. However, you can definitely take a walk on the beach as there are no rocks or seaweed to be found in this part of Mexico. Visitors also say that the beach is not crowded and one can get a lot of privacy.
If you like spending more time on land rather than in water, then you can go shopping to Los Cabos. The resort provides a free shuttle service that drops you near Pueblo Bonito Rose, which is a stone’s throw from downtown Los Cabos. And you can use the service to get back to Pueblo Bonito Sunset. However, you are not allowed to use the service if you are carrying groceries with you. You can also spend your time at the gym or sharpen your tennis skills on the tennis court. The resort also offers spa services, which are good but perhaps pricey.
For food, most visitors recommend trying out the Pastrami Sandwich and mojitos offered at ‘The Bistro’. You can also try out the kid’s mac and cheese offered. The chefs at La Nano also prepare tasty food. Try out pumpkin or lobster bisque with shrimp soups, Caesar salad, potato and the beef and flaming Mexican coffee. You can also try out the Manila bar for its nachos, chips and salsa.
Pueblo Bonito Sunset is a big resort and offers 327 rooms. These rooms are classified Junior, Master, Presidential and Penthouse suites. The deck in Master Suites cover the entire length of the room and thus offers guests a good view of the ocean. Similarly, they also have a separate space for dining room and living room. The rooms are large and offer a comfortable space to everyone. All the rooms have a kitchenette.
