Editorial Review

The RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas is part of the RIU Hotel chain.  The hotel, built in 2004, has architecture reminiscent of a Spanish castle and features 642 rooms on a half mile of beachfront property.  It is only 10 minutes from the Cabo San Lucas marina, and 35 minutes from the Airport.  Most visitors say that the resort offers a perfect atmosphere for families. It is not a spring-break kind of a resort, though you can easily access the pubs and discos located near the periphery of the resort.  The RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas is an all-inclusive resort.

RIU Palace has 642 rooms to offer.  If you are looking for a separate living area and balconies, thenRIU Lobby you should opt for the Junior suites and Jacuzzi suites.  Visitors say that most of the rooms offer a good view of the ocean, though they are not spacious.  Visitors also advise taking a room that is far from the lobby area.  The use of granite in the lobby area makes the rooms near the lobby area quite noisy.

Guests who choose stay at the RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas may be taken aback by the size of the resort.  It’s a huge resort that is deeply entrenched in Spanish architectural sensibilities.  Most guests also enjoy viewing the landscaped gardens at the resort.  Once inside, you will notice that the RIU has made extensive use of granite in the entrance lobby as well as in other common areas of the resort.  Most guests say that the rooms are very noisy and this perhaps can be blamed for the use of granite in the rooms, which acts as a great conductor of sound.  In the rooms you can locate standard amenities such as AC, satellite TV, safe, etc.  In addition, you can also find a mini-bar that contains domestic and foreign brands of alcohol, beer as well as tropical juices.  You can also locate an alcohol dispenser in the room.  The bar is replenished on a regular basis. The rooms have a Spanish touch, however, you may find that the beds are hard.  If you do, you can always request the staff to provide you with extra foam.

Since RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas is a beachfront resort most will be under the impression that one can go out for a swim.  However, theRIU Palace Grounds & Pool waters can be very rough for most part of the day making it unsuitable for swimming.  You can however go for a walk on the beach as it is free of rocks as well as seaweed.  You can also take a swim in one of the two pools located in the resort.  And if you have children, you can take them to one of the two swimming pools meant for children.  The staff also organizes pool activities such as pool volleyball, polo, basketball etc.  The resort also organizes water-based activities such as wave runners, snorkelling, water taxis etc.  If you do not like spending time in a pool, then you can try hitting a ball in the resort’s tennis courts. You can also try out the volleyball courts or the gym in RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas. In addition, the resort also organizes other activities such as aerobic classes.

During your stay at the RIU Palace, don't forget to try the mojitos offered at the resort as they are some of the best.  If you favor Mexican cuisine, then you can head towards the San Jose Mexican restaurant.  You can also try out the Italian dishes served at the resort.  Visitors recommend trying out tortellini, gnocchi, spaghetti, and ravioli with alfredo, marinara.  Similarly, you should try the steak at the Misaki Japanese restaurant.  Though the food is good, most visitors state that the service is slow.  You also have the option of ordering continental breakfast in your room.  Similarly, the resort also delivers coffee and muffins to guests as a breakfast option.  Since, this is an all-inclusive resort, drinks are free.  But if you want top shelf alcohol, you need to place a special request.
