CasaMagna Marriott
Puerto Vallarta Review
|
The 9 storey, 433 room, Spanish style CasaMagna Marriott is part of the Marriott Hotel chain. This beachfront hotel is located near the marina, and has fabulous views of Banderas Bay, and the Sierra Madre Mountains. The resort is only 10 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown PV. Similarly, tourist spots such as Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, Marina Golf Course and Marina Vallarta sit in close proximity. Visitors say that the resort offers a family-friendly atmosphere and you can look forward to spending some relaxing moments.
The architecture of the resort reflects Spanish hues. However, the moment you step foot inside CasaMagna Marriott, you will notice that the interiors of the lobby as well as the rooms exude a distinct Mexican architecture. The lobby is an open-air atrium that offers a pleasing view of the garden as well as the ocean.
The resort has 404 rooms and 29 suites to offer. Most of the rooms offer a good view of the ocean. The resort also offers separate rooms for smokers. In addition, it also offers rooms that are specially designed for the handicapped or for those who make use of the wheelchairs. Visitors say the rooms are clean and spacious. You can find standard amenities such as AC, electrical adapters, two telephones with voicemail, etc. In addition, you can also locate a coffee maker, a water purification system and a fully stocked mini-bar as kitchen amenities. Guests residing in CasaMagna Marriott say that the beds are very comfortable. You can also ask for a crib or a rollaway bed if you are traveling with small kids.
As far as the in-room entertainment is concerned, you have the option of either watching satellite channels or going in for a pay-per-view movies or videos. If you want to surf the net, then you can do the same from the comforts of your room. The resort provides a wireless internet connection in each guest room, however, you will need to pay a separate fee for this. You can also access the net in public areas as well as in the meeting rooms.
Since CasaMagna Marriott is a beachfront resort, then you may be of the opinion that you can take a swim in the beach water. Well, most guests strongly recommend against this. The water is brown and murky, rendering it unsuitable for swimming. If you are consumed by the desire to swim, then it is better to try out the far north and south areas of the bay where the water is cleaner. You also have the option of using the infinity swimming pool. The pool is very large and rarely crowded. You can also join in the pool activities, like volleyball, that is conducted by the staff. However, some guests say that the pool water is a bit on the warmer side. Guests residing at CasaMagna Marriott also have the option of trying out non-motorized water sports such as sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking etc. Jet skiing and water-skiing are also available to guests.
Those who prefer land activities can try out bowling, squash, table tennis, tennis and volleyball etc. And if you are fond of strenuous activities, then the resort staff organizes activities such as mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding.
The landscape gardens of CasaMagna Marriott is beautiful and you should definitely take a look at the various flowers, herbal and spice plants and pepper saplings planted in the gardens.
If you are traveling with kids, then you can either hire a babysitter for them or enrol them in the Marriott Kids Club where the staff organizes creative and fun filled activities for the kids. In addition, there is a special pool for the kids where they can have fun without troubling the adult guests.
Guests say that the food served at the various restaurants is good though a bit pricey. Those interested in trying out international dishes can head to La Estancia which is a good option for breakfast. Here you can have waffles, quesadillas, oatmeal, pastries, cereal, fruit, sausage, and bacon for your breakfast. On the other hand, Las Casitas, which specializes in seafood delicacies, is famous for its mojitos and nachos. And if you prefer Oriental cuisine, then Mikado can prove to be a good choice. If you do head towards this particular restaurant, do not forget to try out the Dragon Rolls. As far as drinks are concerned, you should not miss out the E.M. Sunset. The resort also prepares its own tequila that tastes better than the options available outside.
The spa is perhaps the best feature of CasaMagna Marriott. Guests speak highly about the pedicure treatment offered at the spa. You can also try paraffin hand treatments, therapy baths, waxing, body scrub, and body wrap and facial treatments. If you are interested in learning more about these treatments, then you can enroll in the classes conducted by the staff.
