Melia Puerto
Vallarta Review
|
The 9 storey, 321 room, Melia Puerto Vallarta is part of the Sol Melia hotel chain. The hotel is beachfront and is located in the marina area. Guests can enjoy wonderful views of Banderas Bay, and the Sierra Madre mountains. Surrounding the resort are lush tropical gardens. The resort is only 5 minutes from the airport, and 15 minutes from PV. Melia Puerto Vallarta’s atmosphere is suitable for families and couples who are looking for some laid back attitude that is fun-filled yet not too loud or cheap. The resort is known for its child-friendly policies and visitors traveling with children can look forward to a lot of activities.
Visitors to Melia Puerto Vallarta will be impressed by the lobby and its decorations. The rooms are clean and neat, though they are not too spacious. Once inside the rooms, you will notice standard amenities such as AC, direct dial telephone, ceiling fans etc. Many guests have complained that the AC does not tend to cool the room properly. If you too come across the same experience, then you can request the staff to provide you with an ionizing fan that tends to solve the problem to a large extent. The rooms also provide you with a fridge that is stocked with bottled water.
Because the Melia Puerto Vallarta is one of the oldest resorts operating in the Puerto Vallarta region and most visitors claim that the resort has started showing signs of age, and the room furnishings appear to be a bit dated. As far as the beds are concerned, visitors say that though they are comfortable they are on the harder side. If you do not find the bed as per your likings, you can ask the staff to supply you with extra foam. Guests say that the rooms offer a good view of the ocean as well as the mountains. However, the rooms are very standard in appearance and may be considered prim and proper. If you are traveling with small kids, then you should book a family room that offers bunk beds for children. If you are traveling with small kids, then you can ask for a crib as well as a high chair. Melia Puerto Vallarta does not provide internet connections in individual guest rooms. If you want to access the internet, you can use the internet café located on the premises that offers Wi-Fi Internet connectivity.
If you are planning to have a swim in the beach water in front of the resort, then you might have to drop the idea. Visitors say that the beach is small, and the water is extremely murky. However, the sand is fine and you can take a walk down the shoreline. You can also relax on the several lounge chairs and palapas that are laid out on the beach. Melia Puerto Vallarta boasts of the largest pools in the Puerto Vallarta region, and you can also locate two whirlpools and a special children's pool.
The staff organizes activities such as water aerobics, bingo, airplane throwing, etc. for kids as well as for adults. In addition, you can also participate in the scuba diving clinics conducted near the pool. As far as non-motorized water sports are concerned, then you can try out kayaking, scuba diving and snorkeling. However, remember that the resort charges extra money for these activities and they are not covered under the all-inclusive program. The resort also has two tennis courts that are available to guests who would like to practice their trick shots. If you happen to be a fitness freak, then the resort has a special weight room as well as a jogging track.
During your stay at Melia Puerto Vallarta, don't forget to take a look at the koi pond where you can find iguanas, ducks and geese. Outside the resort, if you want to try out some different sporting activities, look to participate in things as archery, shooting, zip line, climbing wall, batting cage etc.
Guests say that the food served at Melia Puerto Vallarta is good but perhaps not gourmet quality. The Quetzal Restaurant is a themed restaurant and you can expect to be served with Mexican as well as international delicacies. If you want to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine, then head for the Los Azulejos Restaurant. The La Palapita is famous for its nachos. On the other hand visitors recommend trying out the La Palapa buffet, which is known for its tasty food. Grilled rib eye, baked salmon, fillet mignon, shrimp are some of the other dishes recommended by the visitors.
Unique feature: Melia Puerto Vallarta is a themed resort that features the 'Flintstones'. Here you can locate a Yabba-Dabba-Doo bazaar, Roca Flash that which allows you to click a snap of yours with Fred and Dino and Baby Rock Club, Bamm Bamm Club and Cool Club, which are meant for children aged between 4 months to 13 years.
