The landmark Sheraton Buganvilias was built in 1980 and is part of the Sheraton hotel chain.  The 15 storey hotel has a familiar contemporary design, and offers guests a wonderful stretch of golden sand to enjoy.  The resort is only 10 minutes from the airport, and within walking distance of downtown.

Your experience of Sheraton Buganvilias begins with the lobby.  It is big, spacious, clean and airy.  On entering the rooms, you can notice that they are clean and tidy.  However, some guests find the décor and the colors used in the rooms a bit bland and feel that the resort is in need of an update.  The in-room amenities consists of AC, color TV, electronic door locks etc.  You can also locate a fully stocked mini bar in the room.  The beds are comfortable and you can also find a variety of pillows.  But some feel that the rooms are lacking proper furnishings and appear a little bare.

The resort provides internet connections in individual rooms as well as in private areas such as the lobby.  The resort also provides special rooms for handicap access which come with added features such as anti-slip flooring, security bars in bathroom and shower stalls, wheelchair accessible shower etc.

Sheraton Buganvilias is a beachfront resort and you can use the many palapas and lounge chairs to relax.  However, you will have to give up the idea of swimming in the beach.  The water is not too clean and can be rough.  Similarly, the shoreline is not too conducive for walking.  There is very little sand and the beach is full of rocks and pebbles.  But there are two swimming pools present in the resort which are surrounded by landscaped trees and provide a perfect shade for those who want to relax by the poolside.  The staff organizes activities in one of the pools whereas the other pool is meant for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere.  You can participate in activities such as bingo, pool volleyball, water aerobics etc.  In addition, the music played by the poolside energizes the atmosphere.  Another attraction near the pool happens to be the iguanas that can be seen strolling around it.

If you happen to be a bookworm, then you can spend your time in the small book library located in the resort premise.  If you are a fitness freak, then try out the on-site gym which has equipment such as treadmills, cardio and spinning bikes, dumbbells, rowing machine, twister, benches, bars benches etc.  Guests also speak highly of the spa facilities available at Sheraton Buganvilias where you can try out massages, facials and aromatherapy.

Guests state that most of the restaurants present a typical Mexican ambience with thatched roofs and overhead foliage.  If you want to savor authentic Mexican flavor then head towards the La Villita.  However, if you are interested in getting some snacks, then head towards La Pergola Snack Bar.  Gaviotas is famous for its steak.

Guests have the option of choosing the rooms that are classified into various categories including Presidential suite, junior suite and clubroom towers.  Clubroom towers allow you to have facilities such as a private terrace, coffee maker, continental breakfast that includes cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruit, fresh baked goods, an assortment of cereals, coffee, tea, juice and bottled water.  You also daily hors’d oeuvres that includes chips and salsa, cheese and crackers, plus some bite-sized desserts.  The club tower rooms offer a very lovely view of the ocean.  On the other hand, Presidential suite provide a separate dining and living room.

During your stay at Sheraton Buganvilias, don't forget to try out the resort’s tennis club.  Besides playing tennis on the two tennis courts, you can also enroll in the private tennis classes or attend the beginner, intermediate, and advanced tennis clinics where the instructors offer you video analysis and technique corrections.
