Westin Resort
and Spa Puerto Vallarta Review
|
The Westin Resort, designed by Javier Madaleno, will be a treat to those that love rich natural foliage. It is situated beachfront on 21 acres of lush tropical foliage and palm trees. This 279 room, 14 storey, hotel was built in 1992 and offers guests spectacular views of Banderas Bay. Guests are only 5 minutes from the airport, and 15 minutes from downtown. Tourist attractions such as Marina Vallarta, Plaza Marina, and Marina Vallarta Golf Club sit in close proximity to the resort. The resort will especially appeal to families and couples.
Guests will be impressed by the entrance lobby, which also has an open-air terrace. The rooms in Westin resort are clean and spacious and feature standard amenities such as AC, flat screen TV offering satellite channels, radio/alarm clock, minibar, safe etc. As with other Westin properties, this resort in Puerto Vallarta too makes use of the Heavenly Bed®. The resort provides an internet connection in individual guest rooms.
During your stay you will definitely want to take a stroll down the shore. It is free of rocks and stones, however the water may be a bit murky. The resort also organizes snorkelling trips, but be careful of being stung by the jellyfish. As far as swimming pools, you can locate three pools at the Resort. While two are meant for adults, one pool is reserved for kids. The pool area is quite beautiful as it is surrounded by palm trees. However, if you are fond of soaking up the sun, then you might have to adjust your lounge chair as the palm trees often block the sun's rays.
The resort has a gym that is run by the Reebok group, which you can use for an an hourly charge. The gym is also the place to head for if you are interested in learning tennis, yoga or taking aerobics classes. You can also try out the spa which is famous for its Temaztac Maya body wrap. If you like to take a look round the resort and its surrounding areas, do not forget to collect a copy of Running Maps that are published by the Runner's World as they have a good information as well as maps of nearby tourist attractions.
If you are traveling with young kids, then you can either hire the services of a baby sitter or may be just enroll them in Westin Kids Club
El Palmar Restaurant should be the place to visit if you want to taste international dishes. Most visitors recommend trying out the Sunday Brunch that is served by the Nikki Beach Club. The menu features sushi, omelettes, steak, fish, salads, desserts, and Mimosas. The swim-up bar should not be missed for its chicken quesadillas. As far as drinks are concerned, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Pineapple Surprise’ are quite popular amongst the guests.
Westin Resort offers 279 rooms that are classified into three categories: Honeymoon suites, Grand Suites and Presidential Suites. Honeymoon suites offer features like outdoor Jacuzzi and an oceanfront balcony, whereas Grand suites offer separate dining and living room. Similarly, Presidential suites are fitted with plunge pool and plasma TV. Try to get a room on the fifth floor or above to get a clear and an unobstructed view of the ocean. You should also avoid rooms that are in close proximity to the Royal Beach Club as the area is used by staff preparing meals and hence you might be disturbed by the noise.
